There’s something about autumn that makes getting wrapped up, pulling on those wellies and heading out to pick the perfect pumpkin feel like a proper family tradition!
We absolutely love a good pumpkin patch, but when you have little ones in tow, there are a few extra things to think about- is it pushchair-friendly? Are there places to stop for food? Will there be enough to keep the little ones entertained once they’ve found their pumpkin? And, of course, where can you find a really good hot chocolate afterwards?!
Over the years, we’ve visited some lovely pumpkin patches around Somerset and Bristol, and we wanted to put together a little guide to some of our favourites. Here are some of our favourite pumpkin-picking spots that are particularly great for families with little ones…
Avon Valley Pumpkin Patch
Avon Valley has been a firm favourite of ours for years and their pumpkin patch is no exception, especially for younger littles! You can pick-your-own pumpkin (with a wheelbarrow) , a seasonal market, events to let you all find out more about things like where pumpkins come from and even a small fairground. They also have pumpkin nights where you can wrap up warm and walk through pumpkin tunnels!! Noahs Ark Zoo
Noah’s Ark Zoo have their fabulous ‘Pumpkin Fest’ and pumpkin hut where you can combine your pumpkin hunting with a day out looking at all the animals! A sling might be better than a pushchair to ensure you can look all around but they have a lovely café and change areas for really little ones: Pumpkinfest at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm
Farringtons
Farringtons have a huge pumpkin patch where you can walk around the ‘pumpkin field’ and pick your own! Puxton Park
Puxton Park is always a firm favourite for a day out and their pumpkin patch is no exception! Pick your own then grab some food at their café, which is super well set up for little ones! Another place to take those wellies though!!Pumpkin Patch at Puxton Park – Puxton Park Event
