It can be tricky to find places to go out which are entertaining for toddlers but also have good baby facilities. We’ve put together our seven best suggestions for places to visit with babies and toddlers!
We the Curious
This is a great indoor option because there is plenty for children of all ages, but they also have a baby friendly café and change facilities. You are able to bring your own food to eat in the picnic area and they also have a quiet room with low-level lighting and weighted blankets. They have designated place to leave your pram or push and private spaces , upon request, for breastfeeding.
M Shed & Bristol Museum
These are part of the Bristol Museums collection and are both also great for wet weather. There is are so many things for little ones to look at (especially on the ceiling) but also a little play area for toddlers with dress up and vehicles…and a child friendly café in both, plus the Museum has some incredible architecture for the grown ups!
The Wave
This may not be an obviously toddler or small child friendly place to go but it has a really laid-back vibe and, again, child friendly café (we all know how important it is to get food into hungry children). There can, however, be a bit of a wait for food so bear that in mind when ordering.
Little ones can scoot around, there is a good playground and the option of “Play in the Bay” for children of all ages (surf lessons are 4yrs and up). They also have children’s activities on Saturdays, which include arts and crafts and storytime (from four years of age).
Puxton Park
This is always a firm favourite in our house, although it is a little further out of Bristol. There are indoor and outdoor activities for children of all ages, lots of animals to look at and a very sweet train for any train enthusiasts (plus that all important baby and child friendly café)! There are bottle warming facilities and baby food microwaves in both of their restaurants and you can also purchase organic baby food in the farm shop.
Bristol Zoo Project (formerly Wild Place)
If you are feeling adventurous, the wild place is a great day out. Easily accessible off the motorway it has lots of outdoor activities but there is also a big playbarn that your children can play in and plenty of outdoor play areas too. There are plenty of picnic spots, a cafe and also pizza! Perhaps not our first choice for babies but great for toddlers and older children!
Noah’s Ark
This is great for children of all ages, especially younger children. There are plenty of pathways for push chairs and they also run a Safari Tots group each week (aimed at 2-5 year olds) with different themes. There is a soft play and an easily accessible cafe.
Chew Moo
You may not be able to spend a whole day here but, for those towards the south of Bristol, it can be a lovely place to spend couple of hours.
There is, of course, gorgeous ice cream and a coffee shop (you won’t be able to get lunch but there are plenty of cakes and snacks) and it is free to visit the farm and the large outdoor play area.
